LA LUZ DE LAS NIÑAS HAITI

A new La Luz de las Niñas assessment trip to Haiti gave us the chance to listen to and understand the reality of violence and discrimination that many girls in the country experience.

Joining forces with the Fe y Alegría Haiti team, workshops and meetings were held to understand the reality on the ground and the problems girls face in Haiti. But hope and life finds a way, even in such difficult circumstances; the light, creativity and desire to fight that these women have given up hope and optimism for equality. The important work that teachers do to make schools a safe and protective space, despite the surrounding violence. The girls who relentlessly continue to study and hope. Women who are mothers of students and who do everything they can to help them stay in school.

Representatives from each of these groups participated in the campaign’s assessment workshops, putting specific names to that hope.
